They say, Bangkok rises when sunset. That is so true.
Summer lasts for about 4 months from March to June in Thailand. That’s 4 months of intense heat. It could go up to 40 degree Celsius in the afternoon. No wonder no one wants to go out. 40 degree is really really hot.

Sure there are so many bars and nightclubs in Bangkok which you can enjoy night life. But if you don’t drink but still want to enjoy anyway, I would recommend going to a night market.
There’re quite a few night markets here and there in Bangkok offering various kind of goods and products along with good street food and beer garden. The night market is among the easiest to get close with locals. After all, the best way to travel is to travel like a local, right?
Rachada Railway market
How to get there
Take MRT to Thailand cultural center (exit 3). The market is just minutes away.
17.00-1.00 everyday except Monday
cool t-shirts, shoes, accessories, leather products etc.
The weekend is usually more crowed than weekday. It would be best if you don’t drive. Parking space is so hard to find and not too mention the heavy traffic around the market.
From my observation, the market is divided into 3 zones, food, shopping and bar. Food section is absolute heaven for me. For those who can’t take spicy food, better rehearse the word “mai ped” or “Not spicy” in Thai. You will need it;P
You might wonder why this market is called “Railways market” (Rod fai market).
I did a bit of research and found that this market was originally located in Rod Fai (Railway) Park near Chatuchak. It was famous for vintage furniture stores.
After the relocation, the market keeps its old concept. You can still find many vintage stores here.
I spent about 2 hours there before the rain started to pour. It was a hot and humid night. I remembered my sweat dripping while having soup noodle (bad idea! hot soup in a hot day like that). I didn’t expect to spend so much money. Turned out the market has it magic lol
Below are some stuffs I think you should definitely try, just to name some;
Fresh spring rolls
And end the night with chilled beer in local bar.. .
Live music is performed everyday from 20.00. You can all kind of music from jazz, soul, rock, pop etc.
That’s why this market is no.1 in my heart. If you are in town, you need to drop by!
